Acrylic pouring is a painting technique where acrylic paint is mixed with some type of pouring medium and then poured onto a surface in a variety of ways. Sometimes colors are poured directly from individual cups, and other times multiple colors are combined into one cup and poured together…(full article)

Although Paint Pouring and Fluid Painting has exploded in popularity quite recently, the technique itself has been around since the 1930’s.

A Mexican artist (and political activist) by the name of David Alfaro Siqueiros stumbled across this technique in his studio which he described as “accidental painting”.

  1. Thanks for sharing this project. I have only seen paintings where they put all of the colors in the cups and then put the cup on the canvas and lift it up. This gives you more control for your composition. Super fun!!
