Hey everyone, how are you doing? After a mini-hiatus, Built By Us Blogs are back! Huzzah! Now, this a project I’ve been wanting to do for months, and it’s finally happening! We are going to be making pour paint art! I had so much fun making these pieces and I know you guys will too. I hope you enjoy the tutorial!
Materials
- plastic cups (6-10)
- gloves
- canvas (pre-stretched and gesso)
- wooden stir
- towel/ table covering
- acrylic gloss/ gloss spray
- pre-pour paint
- if you are using regular acrylic paint:
- acrylic paints
- water or paint thinner
- if you are using regular acrylic paint:
- eyedropper (optional)
- hairdryer (optional)

Although Paint Pouring and Fluid Painting has exploded in popularity quite recently, the technique itself has been around since the 1930’s.
A Mexican artist (and political activist) by the name of David Alfaro Siqueiros stumbled across this technique in his studio which he described as “accidental painting”.
