Win's Books Author Spotlight

Hello everyone! Welcome to another author spotlight! These will be posts where I discuss and showcase, predominantly women and people of color, their writing talents and published works. So without further ado let’s get on with the Author Spotlight!

Meet the Author!

Alisha Howard lives in the middle of America with her husband, daughter and a handful of animals. She enjoys watching old Charmed episodes (the original!), reading random Wikipedia articles and writing epic adventure series.

What and when started your love for writing?

I began writing when I was 8 years old. At first, it was only super short stories hidden in my many diaries, but eventually, the stories evolved into full-length novels.

Of all of the book genres, what drew you to write about yours?

I love escaping into a magical world full of adventure and mischief! When I was growing up, I didn’t see a lot of YA Fantasy written with Black girls as the main protagonist which was a bummer because I wanted to read about people who looked like me on those crazy adventures. So I started writing my own.

If you could meet your favorite author who would it be and why?

Maya Angelou on Identity and the Meaning of Life – Brain Pickings
Maya Angelo

Maya Angelou for sure. I’d just love to hear her talk about her life and her writing journey in person over a cup of tea.

What is something you wish you knew before you started your writing
journey?

That this is a marathon, not a sprint (no matter what social media tells you). Also, that you’re going to fall out of love with writing at some point and that is okay. It doesn’t mean that you’re not a writer or a bad one or destined to fail. It just means that you’re human and creating takes time, discipline and continuous self-care. If you fall out of love with it, try to rediscover the magic of your storytelling in another medium (painting, photography, videography, etc.).

What makes your book(s) special?

All of these crazy stories I come up with are stories that I want to read. It’s why I write them haha! So when you read one of my books, you’re getting a glimpse into how I daydream on a daily basis. It’s like a peek behind the curtain that hides my thoughts.

So…what are you working on now?

Right now I’m working on On the Run, the third book of my Two Worlds series. I’m also writing Taming the Succubus, the second book in my Jackson Shifters paranormal romance series for my fans who enjoy spicier works.

It was awesome getting to know a little bit about Alisha as an author. I’m wishing her all the best in her writing journey. If you want to get in contact or connect with her you can through:
