Read and Review

Hello wonderful people! Winnie here! Well, who else would it be? I want to write about what I am doing so far with marketing my first book. Now some of you know, my first book (The Gods’ Scion: Child of Tempus) came out in January of this year. Which is over six months ago. Due to my lack of drive, confidence, knowledge, and time I did poor marketing and promotion of my book. For some reason, I thought it would all come easy to me because I was a new writer. Well, I learned that is not the case. You have to work for what you want. So now in the summertime, when I have also started writing my second book, I have invested time to promote my first book.

One way I am doing this is through getting reviews. I realized many people buy things, including books, based on reviews. So I began to look on websites to find book reviewers, mainly ones that supported indie authors and were free (because I give all my money to my college). I found this wonderful site, https://bookbloggerlist.com, that has hundreds of book blogs and book review websites. For the last two days, I have been emailing and contacting dozens of people, in hopes they will review my book.

And I have found success! I have a couple of people who are willing to take a chance on my book. Now, my nerves have settled in.
“What if they don’t like it?”
“What if I get low ratings?”
“What if they hate my book and no one decides to read it?”

Even as I write now I have these thoughts, but I accept that I did my best to my ability and believe my hard work will pay off. I am a very optimistic person, so I understand not everyone who reads my book can dislike it. With that in mind, I hope this helps any other writers, bloggers, designers, etc., who have been working hard to get their product out there.

Try to ask people to do reviews for you. It can be easy on your wallet and give you the exposure you want. Don’t forget, not everyone will like what you got. You just have to take that risk and put yourself out there. With all that being said, I hope everyone has an amazing Friday! And remember live, love, and laugh.
