Hello everyone! Welcome to another Author Spotlight! These spotlights are for showcasing author’s (predominantly women and people of color) writing talents and published works. So without further ado let’s get on with the Author Spotlight!
About the Author:

Lotté Jean Elliott is an Author from North-Eastern England who began as an avid reader before picking up a pen one day and started using her imagination as a tool to create a new universe just like her favourite fictional ones. Through literature, she saw a whole new world open up, and ever since she put pen to page, she has not stopped diving into the deepest parts of the mind and pulled out words that could inspire through poetry or start an adventure with a new character.
What and when started your love for writing?
I’ve been an avid reader since the age of fifteen, but it wasn’t till I was nineteen did I take to writing. After entering my twenties, I was recovering from some health issues and during this downtime I wrote so much that the passion began, and I have not stopped since! I think I saw what a powerful tool writing can be, and I’ve been unable to stop.
Of all of the book genres, what drew you to write about yours?
YA Fantasy was the genre that got me into reading and later writing. It’s very nostalgic to me and holds a huge place in my heart. Poetry was something I came to later and the way you’re able to express yourself through written art inspired me to try it myself and I’ve loved it ever since.

If you could meet your favorite author who would it be and why?
I’ve loved the works of Miri Yu for some time now. Her books touch upon unique and often bold topics and I think it’s inspiring to see how she weaves in elements of our real world and creates such epic narratives. An inspiration to me!
What keeps you motivated to continue your writing career?

“The flame will not burn out for me when it comes to writing. I’m so passionate about it that I keep on growing and learning every year. It’s something that feels right. That’s all I can really say!”
What makes your book(s) special?
Everyone brings their own flare to writing and that is what makes it so wonderful! I believe that my passion for never giving up on my books and always growing as a writer helps so much, you have to believe in yourself and that is all that matters.
So…what are you working on now?
I’ve started a new poetry collection that encompasses themes of being a woman in our current generation. It’s been so powerful and motivating to try a new style of poetry and I’m loving it!
Lotté (who’s name I love) is a poet to watch! And congrats to her upcoming poetry collection. If you want to get in contact or connect with Lotté you can follow her on:
