Amour Author Spotlight pink book and background

Hello everyone! Welcome to another Amour Books Author Spotlight! These will be posts where I discuss and showcase, authors and their writing talents and published works. So without further ado let’s get on with the Author Spotlight!

Meet the Author

An adult romance writer who has been writing since she could pick up a pencil. After the insanity of obtaining a bachelor’s and master’s degree in cybersecurity, creating worlds to escape to still ate at her very soul. She started writing FanFiction (which can still be found if you scour the internet 😉 ), and soon felt the need to get her original ideas on paper. And so the adventure began. She lives in Colorado with her husband and two fur babies, and revels in an enemies to lovers trope with a slow burn.

Carly Spade

What and when started your love for writing?

“I’ve honestly loved writing since I’ve been able to formulate my alphabet and started writing short stories and comic book scripts. It’s been in me since childhood but didn’t contemplate the idea of making it a profession until my thirties.”

Of all of the book genres, what drew you to write about yours?

“Anything I write will always and forever have at least a subplot of romance but “sci-fi fantasy” or more specifically in my case, “space fantasy” much like Star Wars has always been my unique niche. I love the idea of something futuristic, higher tech, but also encompassing magic.”

What does Valentine’s day mean to you?

“My husband and I don’t only celebrate our love on Valentine’s Day but I do love the excuse of just doing something extra corny for each other on a given day. I also associate it with Eros/Cupid from Greek/Roman mythology and given I’ve since delved deep into this mythos for my Contemporary Mythos series, makes it extra special!”

What’s your favorite romance cliche or trope?

“Enemies to lovers. I will NEVER tire of it and I blame Batman/Catwoman and Han Solo/Princess Leia growing up watching them :).”

If you could meet your favorite author, who would it be and why?

“In my case it’s author(s) because Ilona Andrews is a husband/wife team. Their urban fantasy stories were some of the first introductions to the genre and sparked inspiration to write my own. Their dialogue, character development, and imaginations are what really keep me invested in anything they publish.”

What makes your book(s) special?

“OF LOVE  AND FORGE in particular is special to me as a book I knew I wanted to write 5 years ago but didn’t think a cyberpunk fantasy mixed with Greek mythology where the hero is Hephaestus, god of the forge, as a supernatural portal-jumping bounty hunter–would be well received. Cyberpunk as a genre has become more popular I believe due to the Cyberpunk 2077 video game and Greek mythology continues to be popular but mixing the two? I’ve never heard of it.”

love the book cover!!

So…what are you working on now?

“Currently I’m revising a different space fantasy that I’ll be “going on sub” soon with my literary agent in hopes of getting it traditionally published.”
