Hello everyone! Welcome to another Amour Books Author Spotlight! These will be posts where I discuss and showcase, authors and their writing talents and published works. So without further ado let’s get on with the Author Spotlight!

Meet the Author

What and when started your love for writing?

“I’ve been writing since I was a kid! And, like most authors, I believe my love for writing began with my love for reading. I remember as a kid I would often write short stories and poems, winning my first award at school for a holiday story where a horse and a dog saved Christmas and helped Santa deliver all the presents (LOL). When I got to college, my plan was to get a degree in Creative Writing, but my heart decided to focus more on Human Rights and Politics. At the time, it was the right decision for me.”

Of all of the book genres, what drew you to write about yours?

“I think romance and romantic comedy seemed the most optimistic to me. As a teenager, I think I craved the stories for the optimism and the humor that came laced with my favorite books (shout out to the Princess Diaries series, especially!).”

What does Valentine’s day mean to you?

“I know as a romance author it should mean flowers and hearts, but Valentine’s Day holds a different meaning to me. On Valentine’s Day of 2014, I had a really bad seizure that eventually led me to seek emergency treatment at NYU Langone. Since then, I haven’t had a grand mal seizure, for which I am incredibly grateful. Each year though, it means that I celebrate being seizure free by going out and donating to the NYU Langone FACES (Finding a Cure for Epilepsy and Seizures) as a thank you for saving my life.”

What’s your favorite romance cliche or trope?

“I love a good friends-to-lovers trope, but I may be biased as I married my best friend. As a runner-up (and a likely unpopular opinion), I love insta-love. I think it rarely happens in real life, but when it does, it’s real.”

If you could meet your favorite author, who would it be and why?

“I’d love to meet Meg Cabot to thank her for inspiring me to write from a young age. I will forever love the Princess Diaries. And the Queen of Babble one, too!.”

What makes your book(s) special?

“I like to think that my books are real. I like flawed characters that don’t necessarily follow your regular character arc. Real people aren’t like that–we’re not made from a set of different molds. Also, sarcasm.”

So…what are you working on now?

“I’m currently drafting a second book that features one of the characters in Time for Once and have plans to write a third!”I’m working on a stand-alone romcom. Age gap (older woman, younger man), semi-instalove, smalltown romance. It’s about a woman with crushed dreams, trying to rebuild her life when this young hot guy comes around ready to shake stuff up. I’m so excited, because he’s such a ray of sunshine that she can’t help let break through. I can’t wait for y’all to read it!”
