Alice and the Voodoo Queen

Book Description

Alice’s life is finally looking up.

She went from barely affording her studio apartment to living in a penthouse with her fiancé. She tries not to question her good fortune by asking too many questions—like how he can afford it on a restaurant manager’s budget or why she’s yet to meet his family. She is living in the moment, eager to embrace her glow up.

But when her fiancé goes missing a week before the wedding, Alice must go down the rabbit hole and dig up the truth about her lover. She discovers a world of illicit drugs, potions, voodoo spells, gods, goddesses, and spirits. Who would have guessed that her biggest challenge would be his mother, the voodoo queen.

A Book Review

Alice and the Voodoo Queen

When her lover suddenly leaves to handle a personal affair, Alice goes on a quest to retrieve him, leading her down a dangerous path filled with voodoo, demons, spirits, and the realm-crossing drug known as ‘Crow’. I enjoyed every moment of this story. Alice’s character is entirely relatable, being the young and in-love teen willing to go to dangerous lengths for the person she loves. The feelings seem genuine and as the story goes on you will find yourself rooting for them both.Being someone who’s “dabbled” with Louisianan witchdoctors in the past, I could definitely tell that K.R.S. has done her research on Haitian Voodoo [or grew up around the subject] which made the story feel all the more genuine. There are references, artifacts, and one of the characters even seems to be named directly after Papa Legba which I thought was interesting. Was definitely a nice touch. – ⭐⭐⭐⭐
