character interviews on win's books

Hey everyone, welcome to another character interview. This is where authors can introduce a character from their book for us to learn about. So without further ado, let’s get on with the interview!

Hi, nice to meet you! Tell the readers a little about yourself:

Hello! My name is Dima. I’m nineteen years old and I live in Cordoba, where I teach language and music in the court of the Caliph. My life has been quite orderly, but in a few days time I will be traveling to another kingdom to expand my experience as a teacher.

What are your biggest pet peeves?

My biggest pet peeve? Undoubtedly my best friend Azad’s ability to pull me into pranks! I love him, however, he has a tendency to get me into trouble.

So do you consider yourself an introvert or an extrovert?

I believe I’m an introvert. I enjoy the company of others, however, I feel most myself when alone and playing music.

Do you have any hobbies? If so, what are they?

Music is my dearest hobby. I learned to play the oud – which is a stringed instrument like a guitar, or lyre – as a child. My father taught me. Since then, music has been my greatest passion. I also enjoy travel, which is why I’m looking forward to this journey.

Who do you consider your closest friend or best friend?

I am lucky to have two close friends, Eulie and Azad. Although Eulie is technically my maidservant, she knows me better than anyone else. She is wise beyond her years and stronger than anyone I’ve known. Azad is mischievous and fun, and pushes me to be more adventurous. They’ve both turned me into a better version of myself.

What do you do for a living?

I serve kings as a tutor to their daughters, the princesses. I teach them the art of musicianship and languages they will need to navigate different courts.

What is your most treasured possession?

I would say the possession I treasure most is my oud. It was a gift from my father before he died.
