How did your writing journey start?
Writing and reading has always been a part of me since I could hold a pencil and notebook in hand and write coherent sentences. From writing letters to friends on their birthdays to publishing my first book, I don’t remember exactly how all of this started. But, yes, I disciplined my writing during the pandemic. That could be called as the beginning of fiction writing.
What inspired your latest novel?
The chaos around me inspired me to write on silence.
Can you share a moment in your writing journey where you felt stuck?
My book, The Labyrinth of Silence is divided into three halves. After I wrote the second half, I felt blocked as that was the story of a man who was depressed and deceived in life. The next half was happy and hopeful. To move from sad to happy, I felt stuck. Isn’t it the same with life as well?
How do you immerse yourself in your writing?
I don’t have to forcefully immerse myself into my writing. When the muse is in a mood to tell a story, it pulls me in its arms and whispers the words. It is then an irresistible affair.
What techniques do you use to ensure the story resonates deeply with your readers?
I pick real life incidents and then weave them into a story. The reader must feel, ‘Hey, she is telling my story!’
If you could drift away to any literary world, which one would you choose and why?
Wow!! I love this question. If I could escape into a literary, it would be that of science and fantasy where faeries have magical powers yet there is a scientific base to it.
So… what are you working on now?
Once a novelist, always a novelist. I’m working on my next novel which is again contemporary fiction and based on a social cause. I’m midway through it.
