Hello everyone! Welcome to another Author Spotlight! These spotlights are for showcasing author’s (predominantly women and people of color) writing talents and published works. So without further ado let’s get on with the Author Spotlight!
About the Author:
My name is Elise Brooke, I grew up in Hawkes Bay NZ. My parents moved to NZ from England and South Africa, to create their New Zealand Dream, this quickly turned into my New Zealand nightmare. I have written and published two autobiographies in my book series “The New Zealand Dream,” by Sheila my pen name, I wrote these book to inspire and give hope to others.
What and when started your love for writing?
My love of writing started in primary school around the age of seven in imaginative writing classes, then developed in years to a journal and poetry and now finding healing through writing and sharing my personal story.
Of all of the book genres, what drew you to write about yours?
I have a unique and inspiring story based on my life so far that I want to share with others to bring hope and so people know they are not alone.
If you could meet your favorite author who would it be and why?
My favorite author would be anyone with the courage to write and share their story in their unique voice and style. Sharing your story with others can truly save lives.
What makes your book(s)/writing special?
I am not well known or famous; I am an ordinary person. My story is unique, raw, and based on real events. I speak from my heart and do not candy coat. My writing and life may shock the faint-hearted as I am very candid in tone. I survived the odds and came through to now thrive, living my best life.
So…what are you working on now?
I am working on the last book in my series “The New Zealand Dream,The healing.” And I just recently found a book my father wrote and never published about his life from age 4-16 during WW2 in England, I plan to publish this too. I conduct interviews on my website I built from scratch to help promote my fellow writers and host guest writers to collaborate with other writers.
