Sweet homely aromas of an old county kitchen flood my nostrils,
Dancing wildly as they heavenly ascend to forever etch themselves into my memory.
Buttermilk biscuits and freshly cut sausages were my all-time favorites.Country home cookin’ that I now miss so much.
I sneakily peek around the corner,Leaning over the hot stove and taking it all in.
A mesmerizing smorgasbord for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Hot white sweet corn and black-eyed peas with cherry tomatoes,Fluffy cornbread baked to perfect adorned the table.
I impatiently await my turn to lick the double chocolate icing spoons.
The dizzying excitement was almost too much to bear!Forbidden to swear, I’d just grumble audibly in pure satisfaction.
“Yum, yum, yum! It’s delicious, Grandma!” I’d exclaim.
Freshly cut fruit and mountain flowers always brightened the room,Bringing with it, the great outdoors.
During the winter months, furry baby chicks flooded our cozy haven,Chittering happily around my tiny feet.
As I bent down to cup one, the rest swiftly scattered.I giggled warmly, chasing them with my little cousin!
Grandma’s kitchen was the hub then and full of the warmest love to ever give.
